BPI (Biodegradable Products Institute)
BPI is a certification for compostable products and packaging. For eligibility, the products need to pass the ASTM International testing which identifies harmful compounds such as asphalt and fluorinated chemicals. There are two areas for the certification standard: 1. standard for the labeling of plastics designed to be aerobically composted (ASTM D6400) and 2. standard for the labeling of end items that incorporate plastics and polymers (ASTM D6868).

The OK compost HOME certification system ensures total biodegradability following particular specifications, even in the garden compost heap.
